the City On
one side of Naples is Mount Vesuvius and nearby to the bay are the islands of
Capri, Ischia and Procida all within easy reach. Pompeii and Herculaneum are full
of some of the most interesting and revealing Roman ruins in Italy, after being
destroyed and excravated from the ashes of Mount Vesuvius which stands next to
these towns. Naples' city centre is compact
and full of grand palaces, impressive churches, monasteries, convents and georgeous
buildings. So it is easy to get around.

Duomo - an ancient cathedral built between 1294 and 1323
Palazzo Reale (Royal
Palace) - a superb example of architecture
Teatro San Carlo - The Opera theatre
with a unique backdrop, that when removed reveals the gardens of the Palazzo Reale
The Napoli Sotterranea - the fascinating underground tunnels, passageways, stairs,
rooms and halls, right in (under) the heart of Naples. A
