How
do I check times and book train tickets with thetrainline?
It
is easy with the on-line secure system provided by thetrainline.
- Select departure and arrival station. Key in your desired travel dates
and times.
- The system will check and may suggest alternative stations.
- A selection of train times will be shown for you to select.
- Now
is a good time to register. It is painless and just some basic information is
required. Just check if you want to leave the box checked that allows thetrainline
to send you information.
- Your registration is valid for all future
enquiries.
- If you have already registered previously just log-in.
- Now
the British rail system is run by franchisees and offers various discounted ticket
schemes. An open return is valid on all trains at all times, although on some
long distance trains reservation is mandatory. All other ticket types require
either early booking and most have time restrictions (off peak). Thus not all
trains will be available for on-line purchase.
- On the left pane you
will now see fare types and prices. Not all fare types are available on all trains
thus there may not be a selection box. E.G. an 8 am train is usually not available
for cheap day return or other discounted schemes as you would travel during peak
time.
- BUT there are great deals to be had.
- All
that is left is select your ticket and dispatch method. Fast Ticket at major train
stations is the alternative to e-tickets on flights. Run your c-card through the
machine type in you reference number and out comes your ticket. Payment is on
secure servers and all major credit and debit cards are accepted. All payments
are in Pound Sterling.
